But it is. I've been hearing about the new Motorola Q9C that comes with Talks. My question is, is this the only phone on the market that comes with TTS software already installed? Or are their others I'm just not aware of?
Note. Those wannabee accessible LG's don't count. My roommate has one of those and she can't even access her ring tones.
the n series phones all have rudimentary tts, though talks or mobile speak is necessary to access most of the phone.
Talks and TTS are two different things.
What do you mean she can't access her ringtones? You say go to my ringtones and there you go!
If you get the 9c, people still need to purchase talks separately, correct? I wonder if that phone is vack on vzw's website, last I saw, it wasn't.
yes i know tts is diffrent to talks, but the tts on the phone by default is not really much use for anyone who can't see the pone.
A company in the US is giving the Q 9 phone for free. At least thats what I herd.
I meant TTS as in Text To Speech Software, as in Talks. I don't know what the LG's software's called.
Post 4, I should probably clarify. She can access the ringtones, play them and whatnot, but she can't assign them to numbers or download them by herself.
I guess my question should've been, is the MotoQ9C the only phone on the market that comes with either Talks or MobileSpeak?
IT doesn't come with either one. Verizon has a deal where they're going to be giving it to people who are blind with the new version of talks for windows mobile, or at least that's what's been said.
something related, you may want to check out the newest buzz the IPhone 3g s from Apple.
Yeah its great that the iPhone now has voiceover, but its still a touch screen phone so untill they get some more third party hardware intrigration like say keyboards and etc its still a ways off from being truely accessable by the blind. That and app devolopers will have to most likely build voice over support and voice command support into their apps as well before it becomes truely usuable i would think for the blind community. I think voice over at this point main purpose is for the same reason the LG phones have some TTS functionality, more for drivers who can look at the phone while driving can get some verbal feedback. Though i will say with the new iPhone 3.0 software both the original iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS are looking promising on the accessability front.
i can acess everything on the iphone just fine
